Our Little Girl Turns 1

Today is Lily’s first birthday! It’s hard to believe we met her just a year ago this morning. Our little baby is becoming a big girl now.

Jacob was the least excited about adding a girl to our family. For years, he had been wanting a little brother. When we told him we were having a girl his precise words were “My life is ruined!” He proceeded to say girls do nothing but talk all the time and he was going to have to wear his headphones to ignore her. Well, needless to say, Jacob can’t wait for her to start talking and he gets so excited when she tries to say his name. He called her first thing this morning to wish her a Happy Birthday!

Our Baby

Born July 15, 2010 at 9:37 am weighing 8 pounds, 15 ounces measuring 20 1/2 inches long (no, I didn’t know that off the top of my head I had to look it up).

Here she is today eating breakfast before her 1 year doctor appointment. She’s a big girl now! She weighs 22 pounds and 7 ounces and is 30 inches tall. She can walk and climb (we found her standing on top of her walker trying to get in). She has seven teeth and a handful of words – dada, daddy, uh-oh (her favorite when someone drops something), up, aw-duh (for all done) and a-up (for Jacob). She loves cheerios, goldfish, graham crackers, mandarin oranges, cantaloupe, honeydew, bananas, green beans and according to daycare broccoli (we haven’t seen that one). Her smile is ear to ear and brightens our days.

We look forward to celebrating her birthday! Her party isn’t until next weekend but we have a few special things in the meantime! I’ve started putting up a few decorations. The first was a birthday banner. We have three July birthdays so I made it non-gender specific. More to come!
